Happy Monday!

This past weekend I moved out of my apartment. Every time I move, whether gym or residence, I’m always amazed at how much more stuff I have than I thought I had!

As I was throwing some stuff out and donating bags of clothes, I came across a patch I received after climbing Mt Kilimanjaro a few years back. One thing among many that I remember about that experience was the intense poverty we witnessed as we explored eastern Africa.

After we climbed back down the mountain, I remember the reaction of one of the porters after giving him my hiking boots – you would have thought I gave him a new car, he was so excited.

Fast-forward to this past weekend, I was either throwing away or donating bags of stuff many people around the world would and do die for.

Day to day, it’s very easy to lose perspective of what really matters and how good we have it. 99% of our “problems” aren’t life or death–and yet we treat them as such.

The one thing that will almost immediately relieve tension & reduce stress in daily life is to practice gratitude. I know that sounds all well and good, but it’s true. And it’s not something you’re going to remember when you step in cold dog poop barefoot (literally or figuratively).  Expressing gratitude is a practice.

3 Tips To Reduce Stress:

  1. Start your day by finishing this sentence: Today I am grateful for……
  2. In the midst of chaos, do your best to be grateful for all that you have in your life.
  3. Spend time to find blessings from challenges – they’re there. Remember as we learned from the Chinese Farmer, it’s neither good or bad.
